Fare Healthy Host First Zero-Waste Supper Club


Help tackle food waste and tuck into a delicious feast at the same time. Fare Healthy, the UK’s first fitness and wellbeing festival, is teaming up with four renowned British chefs to launch the festival’s first ever supper club – ‘A Root To Fruit Banquet.’

Taking place in Shoreditch on Saturday 4th February, the Root to Fruit chefs are pledging to create a meal that uses zero-packaging in order to treat guests to a unique dining experience.

Chefs cooking on the night will be:

  • Tom Hunt, eco chef, food waste activist and chef patron of Poco restaurant
  • Gill Meller, head chef of River Cottage and author of new book Gather
  • Justin Horne, chef and founder of Tiny Leaf, London’s first zero waste restaurant
  • Tess Ward, chef, food writer and author of The Naked Diet cookbook
  • Peardrop London, catering company & lunch delivery service set up by chef Rose Lloyd Owen, founder of Fare Healthy

The four-course menu will feature a selection of organic, vegetarian, 100% British dishes. Most importantly, the chefs will use ingredients in their entirety. From roots to stalks, nothing will be left unused – demonstrating just how much of our food is being thrown away.

The innovative menu will feature canapés by Peardrop London, including pickled quince and Norfolk Binham Blue on toast with borage. Gill Meller, Justin Horne and Tom Hunt will create a trio of tasting courses for guests to enjoy. To finish the meal, Tess Ward will craft a dessert of spiced pumpkin ice cream with cardamom chocolate soil.

Drinks will be on sale from Toast Ale and organic wine included (waiting on supplier), with cocktails from the Sipsmith and Jax Coco Bar. Following the meal, guests will be given goodie bags featuring items provided by Fare Healthy’s brand partners.

 The Fare Healthy festival returns for a third year, from 4-5 February 2017, at the world famous Truman Brewery in Shoreditch, East London. The two-day event is unique in combining food, fitness and wellbeing, with pop-up restaurants and bars and cookery demonstrations. For more information, see here.
