For this year’s pancake day, the Fitzrovia hotspot Mortimer House Kitchen will be launching a new gluten-free matcha pancake. Dressed with lemon cream and blueberry, the superfood-charged pancake will see you through Shrove Tuesday in a guilt-free manner. Priced at £8.50, the dish will be available from 12th to 18th of February in the recently opened restaurant within the premium work and wellbeing destination Mortimer House,  sitting alongside a wide selection of breakfast and brunch items including a whole section of the menu dedicated to avocado.

 3 Berners Tavern

Jason Atherton’s award-winning restaurant Berners Tavern at The London EDITION has a long and extensive menu to suit guests of every taste, but if there is only one item to cure your sweet tooth it would be the classic blueberry buttermilk pancakes with bananas. The perfect stack with the honey glazed fruits on top is just the right amount of sweetness, and is a staple on the Berners Tavern menu.

For this year’s Shrove Tuesday,  also known as Pancake day, the contemporary British restaurant will prepare guests for Lent by whipping up a pancake stack topped with bananas and Nutella spread, only to be topped with a generous layer of chopped hazelnuts. Not for the faint hearted, the Berners take on the French classic is available exclusively on 13th of February.

4 Ask For Janice

Ask For Janice have created a succinct menu of delicious savoury pancakes for those looking for something a little different. These include the fresh and zingy Crab with avocado chilli, lime and coriander (£8.50) and unusual Spiced Cauliflower Cheese (£8). For those looking to indulge their sweet tooth, AFJ’s menu also features a sweet stack of Buttermilk pancakes with Westcombe ricotta with berries and rapeseed honey.

Grab a window seat under the leafy canopy of hanging pot plants, and watch the bustle of Smithfield Market go by, while tucking into a pile of Pork, Fennel, Chilli and Parmesan pancakes (£8).

OSLO Pancakes

A special creation to celebrate pancake day, OSLO have taken inspiration from across the pond with their new menu addition. Tucked beneath the redeveloped railway station in Hackney OSLO is a cosy spot to dig into a stacks of American-style buttermilk pancakes with candied bacon, blueberries and maple syrup (£5.95 – vegetarian version available £4.95). To sweeten the deal, ticket holders for a gig at OSLO will receive 20% off the final bill. Open 12pm – late.

6 aqua shard


If you’ve got a sweet tooth, make a pitstop at aqua shard.  The trendy venue will be serving a Pancake wrap with Gianduja milk chocolate and orange ganache, caramelised banana and vanilla ice cream. This will be served from 12th – 16th February.

What’s more, guests can also a pancake day cocktail, the Panberry, made with Haig Club rye whisky, banana liquor, maple syrup, chocolate bitters and a blueberry sand rim.

7 Ralph’s Coffee & Bar

For Shrove Tuesday, Ralph’s Coffee & Bar – Ralph Lauren’s first London dining destination situated adjacent to the flagship Polo Ralph Lauren store on Regent Street – will be serving up a stack of traditional fluffy American ‘Homestyle Pancakes with Blueberries and Vermont Maple Syrup’ (£9).

Paying homage to the equestrian lifestyle long synonymous with the brand, the intimate Mayfair oasis with a club-like atmosphere – inspired by the warm and sophisticated style of The Polo Bar in Manhattan – now opens for breakfast from the earlier time of 8am.  Ralph’s Coffee – a custom blend roasted specifically for Ralph Lauren using organically grown beans crafted by La Colombe – is now also available to go.

One for the health crowd, Deliciously Ella will be serving up made-to-order ‘live’ pancakes with a combination of four enticing toppings throughout the day on 13th February.

Vegan-friendly and gluten free, these will include a Classic [Lemon juice & coconut sugar] priced at £4.50, Chocolate [Warm chocolate sauce, sliced bananas & chopped hazelnuts], American [Peanut butter & raspberry chia jam with maple syrup] and Caramel [Salted caramel CoYo with chopped pecans & chocolate chips].

If you’re a cocktail fan, this is one for you. Pancake Day is getting a makeover at Bill’s Restaurants in 2018. From 6th to 13th February, Bill’s Restaurants will be celebrating ‘Glamcake Day’ with a new sophisticated pancake menu inspired by classic cocktails.

Dishes include the alcoholic Bramble Mojito – a pancake served with rum and lime syrup and blackberry mint cream, plus the Amaretto Sour pancake featuring a sweet and creamy Amaretto filling, Italian meringue and toasted almonds.

For fans of traditional pancakes, their Caramelised Lemon and Sugar served with Bill’s pancake syrup will hit the spot. The Caramelised Banana and Salted Caramel Ice Cream pancake, served with almond and chocolate sauce and toasted pistachios, is the ultimate indulgent treat.
