Join Eat Grub For An Evening Of Edible Insects

Eat Grub, the edible insect innovators, are back in London with more bugs than ever.

Launching this May, Eat Grub will team up with Thai street food chef Seb Holmes for a  restaurant pop-up with an insect twist in north London. Set to showcase the exciting potential of cooking and eating insects, this pop-up’s return comes after the success of Eat Grub’s first two pop-up projects held back in 2014 in Hoxton and London Fields.

Through the pop-ups, Eat Grub aims to continue championing insects – deemed as the original superfood – for their huge nutritious benefits, in particular protein.  Farming insects is also highly sustainable, requiring just a fraction of the land, feed and water needed by other forms of livestock.

This year, Seb and the Eat Grub team is preparing a repertoire of new Thai-inspired insect dishes including a handful from Eat Grub: The Ultimate Insect Cookbook, published in June 2016. Using the Eat Grub insect produce, farmed especially for human consumption – each diner will be served a selection of tasting dishes, which are ideal for sharing and include a dessert.

Diners can expect creations such as Insect Miang, a recipe containing soy cricket and worms with flavours of coconut, ginger, chili and betel leaves as well as Salted cricket and Smoked tomato som tam salad.

The food will be enjoyed alongside beer from forward thinking drinks sponsor, Bermondsey brewery Fourpure, and bespoke cocktails by mixologist Tomas Lenko, of Strongman’s Tipple. Sip on unique tipples such as the Boutique Roaster – a healthy take on the espresso martini made with cricket powder and barley vodka.
