11 Celebrate Princess Margaret’s birthday at Maggie Jones’s

Chicken and Artichoke Pie at Maggie Jones's (2)

To celebrate Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon’s birthday on Monday, 21 August, British restaurant Maggie Jones’s is serving a special twist on the G&T as well as one of her favourite dishes, The Chicken & Artichoke Pie, for the duration of the week. The restaurant, which opened in 1964 in Kensington, was at the time Princess Margaret and Lord Snowden’s favourite restaurant and was actually named after the Princess, who used to book under the alias “Maggie Jones”.

To honour Princess Margaret, who would’ve turned 88 this year, Maggie Jones’s has created “Maggie’s Cocktail” (£8.50), a twist on the G&T with gin, tonic, orange juice and bitters, as gin was the princess’s alcoholic beverage of choice. Diners are also encouraged to taste the restaurant’s famous Chicken & Artichoke Pie (£16.50), which was one of Princess Margaret’s favourite dishes.

When: Monday, 21 August to Sunday, 27 August.
