1 Explore the Magical Lantern Festival

Visit the Magical Lantern Festival London for a spectacular fusion of art, heritage and culture. Illuminating outdoor installations of beautifully sculpted lanterns taking various forms, the festival is returning to London following its sold-out debut last February – with celeb fans including Ant and Dec, Emma Bunton, Emilia Fox, Dame Maggie Smith and Clare Balding.

The theme for this year s: ‘Explore The Silk Road’ – visitors will discover magnificent life-sized and oversized lantern scenes, which represent and highlight this significant route of trade and culture from Europe to Ancient China.

The exciting festival will transform the historic Chiswick House Gardens into a fairytale world of light sculptures, Chinese arts, Virtual Reality, games and food – as well as a funfair and 600 square metre ice rink and ice bar.

2 Unwind with a non-alcoholic cocktail at Seedlip’s pop-up terrace

Seedlip, the world’s first distilled non-alcoholic spirits brand, is taking over the Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor Terrace for one month only. The exclusive terrace will be transformed into an immersive Seedlip space designed by Kit & Caboodle, complete with copper piping, garden design features and contemporary foliage inspired by Seedlip’s dedication to celebrating nature.

The temporary terrace will offer health conscious cocktail lovers and Dry January-goers a warm and cosy environment to unwind. Sip on a special selection of non-alcoholic Seedlip cocktails, including a range of Sours, Martinis and Hot Toddies.

3  Join Miranda Sawyer and Marisa Bate for a night of debate
If the New Year’s got you rethinking you’re prioritise and questioning everything in your life: don’t panic, you’re probably having a mid or quarter life crisis. Hosted by the 4th Estate Literary Salon at  Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, expect a night of live literary debate.

Journalist and broadcaster Miranda Sawyer (age 44) will take to the stage alongside The Pool’s Marisa Bate (twenty something) to discuss how a life crisis can strike at any age..

3 Raise a glass at Osteria

Ditch Dry January and raise a glass to the new year with a special bubbly battle between Franciacorta vs. Champagne. Held at Osteria, the one-off event will put Champagne specialist Peter Alderin and award-winning sommelier and Searcy’s ambassador Joël Claustre head-to-head.

As well as plenty of heavenly drinks, guests will also be treated to a range of pairing snacks curated by Anthony Demetre of Wild Honey and Head Chef Patrick Leano. From truffled pecorino crostini, Dorset crab biscuit and Maldon rock oysters for Franciacorta to pressed foie gras with quince, scallop carpaccio with winter truffle and Lincolnshire smoked eel with green apple for the Champagne, it’s set to be an edible extravaganza.

4 Watch a free film at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen
The first in the Sound and Vision ‘soundtrack screenings’ series at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, the weekly film night is perfect for easing yourself back into the world after the festive season.

From the classics to the newbies, some films are worth watching for the soundtrack alone, The fun will start with a screening of The Graduate on Monday 9th – with a different screening taking place every Monday for free.

Try sky-high yoga at The View from The Shard

Looking for a little rejuvenation to kick-start the year ahead? The View from The Shard, the tallest building in Western Europe, has unveiled an exciting programme of wellbeing events taking place at the attraction throughout January and beyond.

From January 21st, Yogasphere will be holding yoga sessions every Saturday morning until the end of February. The classes take place before the attraction opens to the public, creating a serene environment.

Yogasphere’s Mandy Jhamat, and Harley Street wellbeing coach Leo Lourdes, will guide guests through a calming mind and body class, with stunning panoramic views from the open air Skydeck on Level 72 providing an extraordinary backdrop.

9 Attend The Black Cat Cabaret’s supper club

One of London’s most well-known purveyors of ground-breaking, high-end theatrical spectaculars, The Black Cat Cabaret, has announced a new series of supper club events taking place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from Thursday 26th January 2017.

In-keeping with the Black Cat’s trademark dark and dazzling style, guests can expect to encounter high-kicking showgirls, jaw-dropping acrobats, comics, madcap singers, live musicians and a fire-breathing burlesque goddess.

At this new supper club event, the food also plays a leading role. Created by The Black Cat Cabaret’s head chef, Alex Foley (Mercer & Co, Chapel Bar), the menu features a selection of small pan-European inspired sharing plates, main courses and desserts. Guests can expect light flavoursome and mouthwatering dishes, such as butternut gnocchi with a sage butter, Andalusian chicken, beef carpaccio with a mustard cream, Taleggio-stuffed Arancini and a lemon ricotta cheesecake.
